Anecdote: I was reading a 300 MB GeoPackage file today with @geopandas and it took ~3 minutes to load (~800k rows).

I then saved the original file as #GeoParquet and it took 30 MB (10x less), it reads now in 3 seconds (60x faster), and it has exactly the same information!
